Guidelines:
If you share our philosophy for publication, please feel free to submit your poetry for consideration in our next monthly issue. Our editors review submissions on a rolling basis. Submissions are always open and always fee-free. Please submit 1-5 of your best pieces for consideration. Please submit no more than five poems, photographs or works of art for consideration in any one month period. Our editors will consider work from established and emerging poets alike.
Our team is deeply committed to curating a diverse publication. We encourage writers from marginalized communities to submit to Rising Phoenix Review. Our team earnestly desires to breakdown barriers for writers and readers in marginalized communities. We strive to make our platform a safe space for all. Our publication is open to all poets, regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or religious affiliation.
Please send your poetry in a Microsoft Word Document. Format your text in 12 point Times New Roman font. In addition, please include a brief bio of 100 words or less. We love to help promote and support the writers we feature, so please feel free to send us links to your social media accounts.
Please make all of your submissions through our Submittable account.
Simultaneous Submissions:
We accept simultaneous submissions. Please promptly notify our editors if you choose to publish your submission with another magazine.
Previously Published Poetry:
You may submit any work, published or unpublished, unless you are restricted from doing so by an agreement with a previous publisher. If you are submitting previously published poetry, please notify us where and when your poem was accepted. Additionally, you must own the rights to your piece in order to submit it to The Rising Phoenix Review.
Publication Details:
If your poetry is accepted for publication, we will feature your work in an upcoming issue of The Rising Phoenix Review. We will also promote your work across our social media platforms. If your work is accepted, please wait three months before submitting again. We may also choose to nominate your poetry for awards, such as Best of the Net or The Pushcart Prize.
If your poetry is published elsewhere, subsequent to appearing in Rising Phoenix Review, we ask that you credit us as a previously publisher.
Photography & Art Submissions
In addition to our commitment to poetry as a way to represent modern social issues and marginalized populations, we at the Rising Phoenix Review believe in the power of photography and art. We believe in the evocative imagery of an abandoned building reclaimed by the wild, the heart-wrenching scenes of poverty captured across time and place, and the power present in shots of protests. Our team will consider sketches, illustrations, paintings, mixed-media collages, and photographs. We want to see the world through your eyes – what would you like to show us?
Photographers and artists who have their work published by the Rising Phoenix Review will retain all rights to their photographs. Please feel free to watermark your photos in the bottom left or bottom right hand corner. The Rising Phoenix Review reserves the right to feature photography / art in promotions, in segments, and on social media, as long as The Rising Phoenix Review credits the creator of the piece. We pledge never to sell, distribute, or profit from the use of your photograph. All promotional use of the photograph / artwork will credit the original photographer or artists. By submitting your photography or art to the Rising Phoenix Review, you accept these terms and conditions.
Our team will consider sketches, cartoons, illustrations, paintings, mixed-media collages, and photographs. All photographs must be original and taken by the individual submitter. You must own all rights to your photograph / artwork in order to submit to the Review.
You may submit 1-5 photos / works of art during any one month submission period. Title all of your work before submission. Please include a short bio of 100 words with your submission.
